a MARTA line to Turner makes no sense.
A light rail line on Abernathy from West End Station actually would make sense and could connect people to turner field and the Beltline.
Um. Since MARTA Rail was running, all week, it seems to me you missed one giant lesson.
Rail transit works when inclement weather often stops all others. Doesn't mean snow can't stop rail. But it is more likely to work when all else fails.
Meaning..... build the darn streetcars and beltlines and MARTA extensions to Emory, up 400 further, and Stone Mountain (if communities will permit the necessary upzoning to support the transit).
Thomas, our city leaders are ahead of you....
Sometimes you have to read what isn't said.
"For a year, I had made a point to not pay for food at all, to do the "freegan" thing, go through trashcans and STUFF. I haven't really done Dumpsters, but that would have been cool, too."
No one lives off of acorns and outdoor spinach leaves for a year. Note the AND STUFF. I'm inclined to believe AND STUFF includes shelters, or maybe he has a magical food processor since he doesn't go through dumpsters either. And don't include the "I bought dry food part", because that's separate from the 1 year he went without buying food.
He's either (A) lying, or (B) mooching off society in some way shape or form. Or perhaps he should just elaborate on what "And STUFF" means.
The kid's on crack. Live frugally, don't pretend you're a saint and somehow "fighting the system" which is what he seems to implicitly believe he's doing. The numbskull will probably end up like the previous Emory kid that was devoid of common sense and into the wild. He'll probably get a parasite or disease from eating in the trash, or get some other disease from inappropriate nutrition.
THEN, we'll get to pay his medical bills when he shows up in the hospital emergency room. Or he'll get financial/medical assistance from his family again. Either way, the kids an idiot, delusional, and unintelligent. Frankly, he's just not well grounded, as they say round these parts.
Congratulations. When you get free food from someone, perhaps a shelter or food bank, you're taking it away from someone who has real needs and isn't some psycho stupid kid. I have no problem with trying to live frugally. But when you have wealth, and are milking off society, you're a hypocrite.
