I think you need to have sidewalk culture to breed those kind of neighborhood cafes. You happen to be walking and you stop at a nondescript cafe craving coffee, wine, a pastry, french fries, or just a place to relax. Of course Atlanta doesn't have sidewalk culture, though a select few neighborhoods arguably do.

As someone who DESPISES Boston after living there for four years, I have to agree with Hollinger. Antico may be great, but it's just one restaurant. The sheer amount of good pizza places in Boston (Upper Crust, Penguin Pizza) outweigh one excellent pizza place in Atlanta.
