Re: “What makes a restaurant gay-friendly?

"Like them, gay people obviously share characteristics, if only same-sex attraction, that bring us together socially" Maybe it's just semantics, but I hate this sentence. It implies that Black people and gay people are mutually exclusive groups, which being in Atlanta we certainly know is not the case. I see what you're trying to say, but this strikes me as particularly clunky and tone-deaf.

Re: “Atlanta Valentine's Day restaurant events

Omg, get over yourselves. I like a good meal as much as the next, but for many, going out to a nice dinner on V-day is less about the actual meal and more about spending a nice evening with your special someone. Not everyone needs to have 5-star dining to enjoy themselves, and that certainly doesn't make them "from the sticks."

Re: “Home invasions plague Capitol View

As a Black person who lives in the city (SE Atl), can I please just clarify that Black does not necessarily equal criminal. Poverty/low education/broken homes are the culprits. The City of Atlanta unfortunately happens to have a greater concentration of Black folks who fall into the lower socioeconomic bucket. (Go outside of the city and you'll find plenty of majority Black working/middle class neighborhoods with low crime.) There are plenty of us Black folks in the city who aren't criminals and want safe neighborhoods just like you. Unfortunately, we're being drowned out by stupid, lawless knuckleheads.
