Re: “Sons of Confederate Veterans oppose monument to 'Michael' Luther King Jr.? Wait, what?

I love how supporters of the traitorous losers think they're somehow entitled to fair and equal treatment.

Re: “Atlanta United FC officially unveil name, logo

Love the logo; hated the rollout. Don't suggest people take Uber and then make us wait in a half-mile long line while those who drove to the Gold Lot and took the shuttle walk right in. I could have taken Uber from my house to the Gold Lot, checked-in, taken the shuttle to SOHO, and probably gotten in 30 minutes faster than I actually did taking Uber straight to the venue. What genius came up with that system? And don't get me started on the two Budweiser tickets, non-existent food, and crappy scarf that doesn't even feature the team name or logo on it. It was great seeing so many excited fans, but the event itself was very forgettable.

Re: “A look inside the inaugural Krog Masquerade

It really takes an amazing imagination to look at a situation where a promoter closes down a neighborhood street despite unanimous disapproval of the neighborhoods and then call the neighborhoods "the bully" in the story.

Long story short, this event was a flop. And it was more than likely a flop because of the way the organizer handled the surrounding neighborhoods he was inconveniencing. He was rude. He said nothing would go to the neighborhoods. He wouldn't verify whether anything would go to his nonprofit. He just expected us to put up with his "epic" party and be thankful he was spotlighting our community, despite the fact that a much better, community-oriented event that has spotlighted our neighborhoods for years was the following week.

The real shame in all of this is that a community and its local artists standing up for themselves was spun by defenders of the event as just hateful "hipsters" not wanting certain types to come hang in their neighborhood. And, to be fair, several commenters have expressed those views. But anyone who has taken the time to read the entire history of this event back to June and July knows that this is an absurd oversimplification of the situation, utilized as damage control by the organizers once the neighborhood backlash hit critical mass.

The truth is they only have themselves to blame, but I suppose in the world of professional parties and PR any such level of introspection is rare. Everything must be spun. Someone else is always to blame. The client is always right.

Re: “A look inside the inaugural Krog Masquerade

I find the "according to organizers" attendance estimates to always be the most credible. I believe the last big Tea Party event in Washington, D.C. had five billion people there, per organizers.

Odds that Rationalman is, in fact, Randall Fox?

Re: “Masquerade ball in Krog tunnel irks some residents

@The Best Mayne, the people most drawn to this event are probably the ones that see the Krog Tunnel as some kind of "urban" novelty, not the "hipsters" that drive, bike, and walk through it every day. We already see that play out every day with the photo shoots designed to make people look hard and edgy.
