Yes...there are honest-to-God Americans who want these kitchen jobs. Atlanta has culinary schools turning out cooks every year- all legal citizens wanting a break into this business.
They're are plenty of aspiring AMERICAN cooks looking for a decent employer. I agree culinary school has sugar-coated the business, but that does not mean that they do not know how to work hard. They deserve a chance also, not just boot them out when its almost 90 days or its raise time. Unfortunately, there's always another cook around the corner. I hope the immigration issue comes to a head and employers are held responsible for accepting fake S.S. cards.
We need to rethink our options for a renewable fuel source. Our forefathers knew HEMP was a commodity, not only for its strong fibers, but for its short growth cycle, multitude harvests, it takes up little space, and its SEEDS can be processed to make a fuel. No oil has to be used to produce fertilizer or alot of water consumed; its a weed. Legalize- not just for medical reasons, but for textiles and fuel. Tax the hell out of it if you must...but let's not use a food source.
