Re: “Aerosmith, Cheap Trick

Great show. Loved Chip Away The Stone at the end.

Re: “Suspicious 'tube shaped object' found on 14th Street Bridge shuts down Downtown Connector (Update)

If the bomb squad wasn't called, and it turned out to be a bomb, people would be criticizing the city for doing nothing. Considering the history of the city (Olympic bombing) it's better to be safe than sorry. A couple hours of traffic is a much better alternative than a couple of deaths from a bomb.

Re: “ATLwood: Georgia Film Academy coming sooner than later?

With Georgia State building an on-campus production facility why not just expand the GSU film program to play that role?

Re: “First Slice 1/11/15: Why is Georgia's incoming school superintendent planning to give students copies of the U.S. Constitution?

I like this plan. If more students actually read the constitution and learn about the founding fathers it would erode the support of the religious right.

Re: “First Slice 12/14/14: Parent groups call for city to pay outstanding Beltline debt

If I recall correctly the contract the city signed allowed for up to $500 million in hotel/motel tax money for the stadium.

It's not the whole cost but it's tax money that could have been better spent, perhaps the money could have been put towards the beltline so ABI could settle it's TAD debts.

I guess it's too late now.

Re: “First Slice 11/20/14: Atlanta streetcar delayed again

Considering a vast majority of all streetcar incidents in the United States are the fault of the driver it is likely the city that will be collecting payments, not paying.

Re: “First Slice 11/20/14: Atlanta streetcar delayed again

This is a small delay albeit annoying. It wouldn't be logical to judge the project entirely because of the delays (though they can be used to critic the implementation). The full effect of the project will become more apparent as time moves on after it's opening.

There are several small rehab projects and a few new proposals for development downtown so I am optimistic about the developmental aspect of the project. It's usage as effective public transportation is, in my opinion, entirely contingent on expansion. ABI is currently working on the Environmental assessment the first phase of expansion plans, an important step to obtaining federal funding.

I wonder if the filming downtown has helped to cause the delay? There have been street closures and equipment stored on the tracks.
