I went to the two Atlanta Streets Alive events last year and they were a blast. Atlanta streets had not looked so good since the Olympics: car free and choked with people! This event is great for all ages and is kid-friendly. The great part is that everyone chooses their own way to enjoy the street. It's really more of a happening than a festival.
Indiscriminate booting is a symptom of a car-centered city with an overall low level of municipal infrastructure and a high tolerance for these random, unsightly lots scattered about.
