Sad to see the toll collector watching as she loses her job.
404Rodent- I've talked to intelligent folks tapped into the situation that concur with that.
Pointing out the obvious..... they go from not ideal mass transit but certainly functional.... to zero. I'm at a loss.
There's been extensive writing by Creative Loafing and others about how Art Center station is set up for developing on top of it. There has to be a developer who wants to build there. I've worked in commercial real estate investment for 10 years. That site is attractive but only for the right price. Think of all the land completely undeveloped south of 14th street and north of 10th street (ie around Cosmolava, etc). Is Marta going to make a deal so favorable for the next tower to beat out those land owners? I doubt it. One developer already owns the assemblage on W. PT and 14th where the Einstein's/new ZipCar are. That'll probably be next.
Isn't 1st North Ave and 2nd Ponce? The most common street name in America is 2nd street because 1st street is so often Main Street.
Not the best one in the serious but glad he got a chance to give his thoughts.
I was at Lindbergh Station a few weeks ago and saw Mr. Parker walking towards me with another gentleman and realized who it was. He insisted I call him Keith and we had a good chat about Marta for a couple minutes until their train came. I can't speak to whether things will improve with Marta but I left the conversation knowing Keith is a good guy and is going to work hard to help Marta.
