Want to convince the tea-partying suburbanites of our metro that they should tax themselves extra for transportation projects? Assure them that the revenue will be spent only on suburban roads that improve their daily drives to office parks and strip malls.
Include any language about transit and MARTA and you'll kill the tax immediately.
The only way you could convince these people to fund a rail transit line is if you re-locate the Georgia Dome to a new area and build a rail line to it so they can shuttle to the football game. That might work. You could just re-locate the Dome every few years and build new transit lines across Atlanta.
