"...hold these truths to be SELF-EVIDENT, that ALL men are created equal."
I want to believe that it is ignorance not stupidity that we are dealing with.
The most ridiculous part of this conversation is its existence.
"I do not want SSM, and I don't want it forced down my throat. Period."
That's what she and/or he said.
Rhetoric v. Reality.
John wins one for reality.
Agreed, everybody is so concerned about Big Brother but feels fine about Big Mother micro-managing. It would be a huge step in the right direction to leave half (if not all) of the "issues" in the presidential debate in the hands of the states. For instance the health care plan that Mitt had may be great for that state but on the federal level it is ridiculous.
I'm saying if the right wants to get rid of some the tax breaks for the poor then propose legislation that will do so.
If the left wants to get rid of some of the tax breaks for the rich then propose legislation that will do so.
These are not the same arguments.
The right does not want to do this because when you separate them there argument would not look very attractive on there campaign platform.
Reality, I think the blaming the poor came from the constant blaming of the poor. Or in other words, "The 50% that don't pay any taxes."
This is a completely different argument that keeps getting thrown out as a rebuke to the left asking the "rich" to pay more. It is an idiotic argument that makes no sense whatsoever.
If you take this argument and set it out by itself it would be the end of any politicians career.
I can see it now..."Ya know who needs to be getting some skin in the game, all these freeloaders who make less than 10k a year. Lets raise the taxes on the lowest earners." That statement is a career ender but if it is a counterpoint then its all right?
Now, if you think raising taxes on the lowest earners is the answer fine but if you don't and you bought into this argument then you need to ask yourself....who is being ignorant here?
