Many posting here have obviously not been to SS in awhile. Affluent, no, just better than the City of Atlanta, though likely not for long. Brookhaven's going down the tubes, too, with crime creep. I give Dunwoody a few more years, then that'll be it for the metro area.
The culprits are the city admins in charge since 1980. Plenty of native Atlantans predicted this sorry state of the city then. Not near as easy to build a city as it is to tear one down, is it? Atlanta stands now as little more than a roadmap for how to let idiot PC diversity vultures wreck a perfectly fine city. Same crowd has now moved out into the 'burbs to phuck them up, too.
Worst thing to happen to Atlanta was Andrew Young. As mayor in the 1980s he put out the welcome mat to Detroit and all urban blighted areas for the worst of the worst to relocate south and increase his constituency. Many, many Atlantans - both black and white - fled the City of Atlanta. Young kept it up, with his corporation 10 years later making millions off the Olympics - wooing more unemployed illiterate criminals. Atlanta crime has been off the chart ever since, and that's even with APD, Fulton and Dekalb police cooking their books.
