Nice article CL. Nick is breaking into a new territory and with this he is exposing people to new things and restaurants. All around a great addition to a great city. Keep up the good work Nick.
I am surprised no one has mentioned Sushi Mania in Cherokee Plaza off Peachtree Road. An unassuming location this place offers some high qual sushi. MF=overrated.
I must say I disagree with several of the observations here. I was directed to try Latitude by a seasoned and successful restauranteur who insisted I must try a few things on their menu. I will admit that, after being in Atlanta for 28 years, when I walked in I was a little skeptical of the space and not too thrilled but trusted my recommendation so went with it. I ended up having 5 of the apps and the chicken entree. You can tell a lot about a chef/restaurant by the chicken dish. A usually underwhelming option on most menus, Willix did a great job creating an extremely flavorful dish with nice accompaniments. I thought the eggplant app was top notch. Most places that serve anything similar produces a mushy texture akin to frying eggplant. I think the tomato conserve and ricotta transport me to a wonderful Italian flavor that is very comforting food. The lamb and lentil app was a wonderful upscale play on pork and beans, never had lentils flavored like this (I eat lentils almost daily). One final note, of the hundred or so beet salads around, Willix utilizes unique flavors with the toasted hazelnuts and greek yogurt. And serving them slightly warmed is a nice change as well. I did not have dessert so cannot comment there. My only negative would be regarding the servers. They feel as stiff as the interior of Phipps. Overall, I say it is at least 3 stars and worth a drive. I drove from Inman Park.
