We knew this when he was elected. Hard for me to imagine how voters can ignore the truth and go just for the labels!
One of the things to also consider when talking about pricing is Europe vs. US on regulations. This is a complex subject but our regs and certifications add to the price. And the price per item gets higher when you are doing small batch production (take it from me, we just went through this with our new company trying to offer organic preserved foods). A lot of Europe has never had what are now becoming the archaic and intensely lobbied regs of the US, but also much of Europe isn't into the good and healthy production (such as organic) that we are doing here (i.e. more pesticides therein some areas than here - hard to believe but true). Not being able to produce product for market in a "home" situation is a huge factor - not that I'm saying its good or bad - just that we have to add it to our pricing here in the US, as we do in meeting all the food regs. We can't resist a once-a-week visit (or more) for LIttle's Little Burgers for our nightly meal. Soooo-ooo-oo Good! And Cheap! Really appreciate all the diverse products in the store - everything you could need on a moment's notice. And they have responded so well to the neighbors - need it? They'll stock it! (Including ping-pong balls for the Wednesday nite players). Thanks, Brad and team for being there for us! And thanks for working with our "little" fledgling company! Lyn/Preserving Now
