Re: “Kasim Reed is not cool

If President Obama has made any impression on pop culture, its been in the way of solidifying the shift in the definition of "cool". Especially as it has been historically defined for black males. Smart is definitely now the new cool, which leads me to wonder through which lens is Mayor Reed's "coolness" is being judged? Reed has led this city with a policy-driven intelligence, combined with an serious edge that demands respect from opponents & supporters alike. Though he did not speak, his impact on the convention was clearly seen as many of the mayors mentioned above took a serious, no nonsense approach to their commentary as a direct response to the overwhelmingly positive feedback Reed received from his last Meet the Press appearance. Our city would be in a much better place if the "Kasim Reed Effect" was embraced by many of our local leaders in the way that it seems to have been accepted on a national level...

Re: “We get mail: Andrew Young defends Mayor Kasim Reed

Sugg’s comments were clearly intended to spite Reed instead of truly telling the tale of two cities being led by two young, intelligent, integral Mayors. Instead of giving an objective view of the outstanding performances by both Reed and Booker, he uses Booker as a pawn to express his personal vendetta against Mayor Reed. Thankfully, Andy set the record straight and brought to light the truth of Reed’s record. Thanks CL for having sense enough to print it.
