Re: “Protesters arrested at Emory University after demanding research chimp's release to sanctuary

Scott, you obviously adhere to the Old Testament, but ignore the teachings of Christ. Of course, the Golden Rule existed before Christ, but his message was very clear - “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” does not interpret as “do unto others… unless they are of use to you.” “Blessed are the merciful” does not interpret as “blessed are those who show mercy to other humans.” Did you know that at Emory they perform invasive research on animals without using any anesthesia or pain medications? By law, research animals have no protection from any procedure that the researchers think up. And in order to pay their mortgage with your tax dollars, (they received over $370 million in federal grants in 2011) they need to continually think up new tortures for animals. Can you imagine having a hole drilled into your head or having your stomach sliced open with no anesthesia? You detest animal cruelty? Then you should detest what they are doing to those animals at Emory. If you think it is saving lives, please name one cure or prevention that has come from Emory’s animal research.
