Sad fact is, we only have the marine mammal park's word for how any mammal dies in their facility. Essentially they can say what they like, they're no longer required to provide a necropsy report to any entity.
There is no regulation that orders them to do so, that ended with the 1994 MMPA amendment. With no oversight they can say what they like, the public would never know different if it wasn't for scientists like Lori Marino who dig beneath the surface.
