You can not compare Atlanta to states in the Northeast Corridor. Washington, Baltomore, Phila., NYC, Boston - Hugh numbers of people compressid into a relatively small "corridor" in a relatively short distance. THAT is why it works. Also the train-subway system is latge and comprehensive. Much of kit was build years ago when construction cost were low and property cheap and along existing rail lines. Nothing here like that.
I does not take an engineer to figure this out - When you combine 10 lanes of traffic into 5 lanes of traffic (or 12 into 6), you ARE goling to gridlock - period. I suppose that can be solved somehow, but how much and how long. Infrastracture changes take years & years these days with environmental impact studies, law suites and all. Martta works for those goinhg down town & to the airport. The bus system is a joke. I live less than 30 minutes from work (on a bad day). Marta can get me there in just under 2 hours. This is throwing monies in a black hole.
If you were in college in the 60s you had a deferment - period. You DID NOT have to be in ROTC.
Check your facts Sugg. I suspect everything else you said is just as inaccurate.
