It's amazing how much history has been destroyed just in the 16 years that I've been here. "Historic Vinings" is now simply a shopping center and a 24 traffic jam. I've watched bulldozers plow right through the middle of many Civil War trenches and fortifications. No one seems to give it a second thought. The other day, I found an 1896 Indian Head Penny, right next to Felini's Pizza on Peachtree Street, just on top of the dirt between the sidewalk and the road. Would have been interesting to see what that area looked like 116 years ago.
