As far as references--the first time Brody went into the tailor shop and immediately went to the back it reminded me of the Man From Uncle. The two agents--Napoleon Solo and Ilya Kuriakin accessed their UNCLE headquarters via the dressing room of a tailor shop.

The friend at the CIA wasn't Saul. Mike was surprised to see Saul instead of his friend when he arrived for the meeting and Saul explained that Mike's friend let him know about the meeting request and he decided to meet with Mike.
