I mean, if you live in Atlanta, which just happens to be one of the fastest growing cities in the US in terms of art, music and general creativity, you need to know that public art and expression exist and will occur in your lifetime. Wake up people! One of America's #1 ranking art schools is SMACK in the middle of your city RIGHT ON PEACHTREE. HELLO!?
Would you rather stare at a wall that is blank on your commute to work? Probably not. Would you instead prefer to stare at a wall that was LEGALLY painted with inspirational art that will enliven your spirit and day? Probably.
Slathering ugly banal grey paint ILLEGALLY over a mural of some substantial number of feet on a mural that was painstakingly painted with beautiful detail is a horrendous and no doubt shameless act of narcissism. This man should be charged for defacing public property, and should reimburse the volunteers and city for their resources for this restoration. Afterall, you have him ON FILM stating that he did this WITHOUT A PERMIT. This is now public knowledge!!!! No matter how you slice it- this man has put graffiti on this wall. Last time I checked, that is a legal matter.
