Re: “Damn hipsters: Is Atlanta falling prey to its indie cachet?

A friend shared your article with me today. I simply shook my head in disgust. Are you totally oblivious or just that arrogant? The local music scene in Atlanta is doing very well. It is by no means perfect but there are plenty of great local bands out there that you never bother to write about. Maybe if you actually got off your ass and checked out some of the new and upcoming bands that play their hearts out every week you would actually have something interesting to write about instead of the same 5 bands that everyone is tired of hearing you regurgitate over and over. The Atlanta music scene also has a great sense of community that it has built over the years which you are obviously not aware of because you choose to not be a part of it. If you are too lazy to actually take the time to find new/interesting artists in Atlanta why don’t you simply take a public poll on Creative loafing site to gather a list of new and upcoming local artists and actually listen to them yourself to see if you are indeed correct. Who knows you might actually have something worthy to write about. You might actually turn your audience on to something new for a change. You probably would never attempt to do such an act though because it could prove your article wrong. So feel free to keep talking about the same old crap and losing readers.
