Re: “Spiked heroin appearing in more Fulton overdose deaths, medical examiner's office says

Don't Run, Call 911. Alcohol and other drug overdoses are preventable and the prevention starts now. Please distribute this information widely. When facing any drug-related medical emergency, Don't Run, Call 911. The Georgia 911 Medical Amnesty Law and Naloxone Access Bill, O.C.G.A. 13-16-5, provides limited immunity from arrest, being charged, or being prosecuted should law enforcement find anything drug-related while responding to the drug-related emergency. YES the law covers both the person who seeks medical assistance and the person needing medical assistance. YES the law covers underage drinking. Remember, Don't Run, Call 911.
Atlanta Harm Reduction Coalition, Georgia Overdose Prevention, Students for Sensible Drug Policy, the Davis Direction Foundation, and other groups are working to get the word out about this one-year-old law. The former 2014 HB 965 was signed into law on April 24, 2014 and went into effect immediately. For more information, visit the Georgia 911 Good Samaritan Law page, GeorgiaOverdosePrevention.org or atlantaharmreduction.org.
Yes, drinkers are going to drink. Some will drink to alcohol poisoning excess. Drug users will use drugs. Some drug users will overdose. These overdoses do have not have to result in death. Please take care of your friends.

Re: “Winners Pick a Winner

Thank you Tim Franzen! The staff actually does get small salaries. We would not be able to do the work that we do without our volunteers. Commitment to the least of these is priceless!
