Re: “Pot activist: Don't get fooled by Georgia's 'medical marijuana' reform effort

Well yes, there were 'Dennis Peron' types around. The 1st Atlanta Smoke In featured Shay Addams (HT) and myself (who wrote the above article) and 28 brave souls who were arrested in Hurt Park, two years before the 1980 Act was introduced. YIPPIE had been sponsoring direct action events since 1969. I have know Dennis since 1972. So just wanted to clarify a post above. Newt changed his position after he had introduced a 'medical marijuana' bill in Congress in 1980. He completely reversed his position. The last successful MMJ bill was championed by the wife of cancer patient and passed almost unanimously by a mostly Democratic legislature and signed into law by the then Governor George Busbee (D). Unfortunately it only lasted tow years until the FEDS got cold feet when thousands of AIDS victims and patients were found to benefit from the herb from the toxic poisons they were taking to stay alive. The FEDS couldn't tolerate tens of thousands of 'gays smoking AIDS patients' being supplied pot from the Mississippi farms.

Re: “Great Atlanta Pot Festival could replace SweetWater 420 Fest in Candler Park

The Great Atlanta Pot Festival started in 1989 and had an attendance estimate of 60,000 for the Black Crowes, Grapes, in 1992. The following two years brought crowds of 30,000 or better for groups like Outkast, Nihilist, Michelle Malone & Drag the River, Dirty Blondes, Liars in Wait, Mojo Nixon & Skid Roper, Stuck Mojo, Cypress Hill, Black Uhuru. The event has been held in Centennial Park, Woodruff Park, and Piedmont Park in the past. The last one in Piedmont Park featured Blackberry Smoke, Kevn Kinney. All years featured the best cannabis reform speakers and authorities in the nation.
