I am a member of the Coalition to Ban the Horse-Drawn Carriage in New York City. We support our colleagues all over the world who are fighting to ban this cruel form of "entertainment." Horses used in the carriage trade are routinely overworked, overtired, unwell, depressed, and miserable. A vast majority have no turn-out (horses need several hours a day to be happy and healthy). They have no communication with other horses (another requirement for their well-being). Cities and towns all over the world have banned this ill-treatment of horses. Soon it will be one more abuse of animals that used to be but is no more, but it cannot come soon enough for the suffering horses.
