Its a good read but......the author is still blinded by the charm of will harris and family. The Harris branding is so good that they can sell crap beef and chicken to the supposed educated consumer by using key words like sustainable, decentralized and pasture raised. When that product is lacking so many key principles of all those key words.
Example: where do they get their purchased feed from for the poultry and swine. Why southern states, who buys from the mid west and is some of the lowest quality feed a southern gentlemen can buy.
Also most of their beef and sheep come from outside of harris' farm. Never fully guaranteing that those bovids were always grass feed or grass finished. Have you ever eaten one of the steaks. Tough as nails. Chicken likewise. Genetics and management are key to palatable product. They demonstrate neither.
Hype is hype and marketing is marketing.
Also they bank role a lot of non profit clean food advocacy groups through "charitable giving" so the're always represented more than the smaller farmer centralizing the GA market in one direction.
