As a white woman living in a diverse urban Atlanta neighborhood, aunt of a black mentally-ill nephew that was shot & killed by a white Dekalb police officer the day before Trayvon lost his life, and a mother of a teenage daughter that was shot at by two hoodie black teenagers with rifles, I have deep sympathy for Trayvon's family and deep empathy for George Zimmerman for attempting to keep his community safe and having it all go terribly wrong! The jurors did not have enough evidence to put Zimmerman in prison. What if, just if, Trayvon wanted to teach that "creepy ass cracker" a lesson and beat him until Zimmerman thought he could actually be killed by him. This is the criminal justice system we have and it's the "best" in the world in comparison. Be the change you want to see.
