"Surprisingly, Pacific Rim doesn't match the levels of fight and awe of 2008's Cloverfield, which depicted a monster attack from the terrified point of view of innocent civilians."
Are you kidding, mental, or WTF?! Just about Cloverfield... The movie is boring, plain bad, and awful to look at. There's nothing frightening nor good about it, except how overrated it is and how obv people wasted good money to see it in theaters. I was all like, why doesn't the battery end already for gawd sakes! That did scare and surprise me though. The premise and "plot" are laughable. The characters are laughable; their "performances", interactions, relationships, and actions are stupid. CLOVERFIELD IS STUPID! The "monsters" were a joke too; but that was to be expected. Fights do were kind of slightly above meh; but not near the level of awe and sophistication of Pacific Rim.
As a matter of fact plainly comparing it to Pacific Rim; except for the fact that they're monsters in it; it's completely unacceptable. And I demand an apology!!! I may have let slide a couple of Transformers analogies. But it was understandable. Besides Pacific Rim obv put Transformers to shame, as it pales in comparison. But Pacific Rim and Cloverfield should never appear in a sentence; unless to obv contrast further how superior Pacific Rim is. In any case; there is a whole bunch of better monster movies to compared it to. Putting the two together just goes beyond insulting discernible movie audiences...
