My personal observation and experience leads me to believe that complete control over the media,
press, radio, and TV is the only thing that would lead to revitalizing downtown. Something like the PR campaign put on, up to and during the Olympics in 2003. Anything less would let reality creep in.
For people who like it downtown more power to them, although for me the "cultural" advantages of downtown are outweighed by the fees, taxes and liabilities of living in Fulton or Dekalb counties. I must not be the only one who feels this way. If it was just me then Atlanta wouldn't have a traffic problem, everybody wouldn't be in such a hurry to get out of town.
I can think of only 3 reasons to go to downtown Atlanta
1. My level of acquired parking tickets has gone down
2. I have an unsatisfied need to have my car booted
3. I miss the excitement of being mugged or carjacked
Anything else I can find outside the metro area.
