Mark, 71% of Candler Park's residents surveyed last month said that festivals should be limited to 20,000 people or less. That's only about one third of the size of Sweetwater. 44% of Candler Park's residents surveyed believe that festivals should be limited to only 10,000 people.
You must really hate the neighborhood if you think the majority of CP's residents are "angry knuckleheads."
Maybe it's time for you to step down from CPNO's board. No really, you've done enough. :)
What a joke, Candler Park never saw a dime from the Sweetwater Festival, not from user fees, not from the wristband sales, not from the beer sales, nothing. CPNO paid for the 5K race and put Sweetwater's name on it, advertising for them without getting paid for using their name! The festival is not needed to host a Candler Park race. Putting crowds of 50,000+ ~ the size of the Georgia Dome ~ into a neighborhood of 3000 people was simply untenable. In addition, Sweetwater lied on their festival permitting process, telling the City the festival was only 25,000 people instead of the true 50,000-70,000 people that were attending. In 2013 Sweetwater also lied to Candler Park and obtained their festival permit from the City of Atlanta a full 19 days before CPNO voted whether or not to approve their permit request, and before NPU approved the festival as well, illegally circumventing the neighborhood permitting approval process. Good riddance to Sweetwater Festival!
