Re: “Fuqua: Kroger, not Walmart, will be the Glenwood Park development's anchor tenant

Better than Walmart, I guess. Would rather see a grocery store on Memorial in North Grant Park. Perhaps on the soon to be vacated Habitat building. More walk-able an cycle-able. Unless the city extends Woodward through Pearl and to the Beltline like they say they will......

Re: “Braves face potential lawsuit, parking lot woes in new stadium plan

Don't block it!!! Most of the Turner Field game day thugs are not signing new leases, as they are all moving to the Galleria area............

Re: “Beltline trail progress prompts pushback from community garden

Gawd I'm so tired of these whiny, entitlement types. "I'm a minority so my rights supersede everyone else's". Get over yourselves...............

Re: “Land of the living Ted

I live in the city (Grant Park) and I am good with this. Have you been around Turner Field on a non game day? There is enough parking spaces to land (3) 747's simultaneously. Complete waste of space. TF is already a suburban park, just located in the city. How many parking spaces outside of Fenway? Zero!! How many games do they sell out? All!! Also, the same reason burbers do not want to venture to TF, is another reason I'm glad they are leaving. Let the game day thugs hang out in Cobb. There's more money to be had, right?

Re: “Why do I hate the suburbs?

I recently moved into the city from the burbs, am white, and not gay (I know, crazy right?).
Grant Park to be exact. "Isn't that close to the stadium? It must be a crime infested slum."
Actually, the cheapest 100 year old house goes for $350,000. Easily affordable for those game day thugs. It has been a learning experience. I too once had the same hangups you burb dwellers do. My knowledge of the city was based on Braves and Falcons games. Maybe when you drive into the city for a game, there is also 40K to 50K others driving in for the same reason and perhaps that is why the traffic is bad? Is it like that when no game is scheduled? Does a tree make a noise when it falls and there is no one to hear it? Maybe there are so many thugs on game day due to the fact that 40K cash carrying fans create a market? It's called supply and demand. I've been to Turner Field on a recent Sunday. Not a thug to be seen. Actually, I could have ridden my bike naked, whistling Dixie, and no one would have spotted me. It has been a learning experience, and I can now honestly say, the average city dweller has far more knowledge of the burbs than the average "Subdivision Strong" dweller has of the city. Grant Park is a great Atlanta neighborhood. My daughter walks to GSU for classes. She also walks to work at "Republic", one of the many bar/restaurants in the area "that don't exist". Oddly enough, she has yet to be raped and pillaged. Bottom line people, stereotyping is not going away any time soon. We are just going to have to deal with it.
