@The Truth, and Burroughston Broch... One cold winter in one region of the world doesn't reverse the many-decade trend of warming all over the planet... but it might be a fun talking point. All 13 years of the 21st century have been among the 15th hottest years since modern records have been kept. Please fact check me and please get back to me with a valid point once we've had 37 consecutive years of below average global temperatures.

Thank you, Dana and Larry, for the great article. This is a really important subject for coastal communities to be paying attention to, especially on the east coast of the U.S., where we have one of the greatest rates of sea level rise in the world and a massive coastal population living under just a few feet of elevation. I hope you continue to cover sea level rise in future articles for Creative Loafing.
