Note that the top-voted Cheesecake Factory got only 13% of the votes in the survey, which was corrected somehow for the number of locations per chain Olive Garden & Applebees got the most votes, but were corrected downward because they have so many locations.

2 - Texas Roadhouse - 8%
3 - Red Robin Gourmet Burgers - 8%

and

15 - IHOP - 1%

Considering the limits the survey respondents had to work under, it's not really an indictment of U.S. consumers. Here's the survey logic (one unmentioned characteristic was "kid-friendliness"):

> Ratings were granted against characteristics including
> food taste and quality, atmosphere, and cleanliness.
Though I was never much of a fan of their food, the quality and cleanliness was astronomical. Even the deepest, darkest corner of the prep room was spotless and sterile.

I don't know which I find more annoying: (1) Establishment of a seemingly arbitrary and unnecessary policy, with (it would appear, based on your report) poor education of the staff as to how to explain that policy. (2) Use of a font in the announcement that is clearly designed for capital letters to appear only at the beginnings of words (as evidenced by the exaggerated serifs on those letters), but placing the text in all-capitals.

I haven't been to Eclipse di Luna yet (and find my enthusiasm for doing so waning, based on this post).
