Good article.

Voting yes won't reduce MARTA fares, and frankly i don't think they are excessive.

Voting Yes and then trying to change leadership doesn't make sense because you've given up your leverage and allowed these leaders to continue another day.

Economic recovery is happening. This isn't Detroit, we didn't lose an industry, even the road industry will have a huge pot of funds via the gas tax.

Granted they are spending it all on I 85.

But isn't it stupid that we took the toll of of 400 when that reasonably should be used to pay for the 285 / 400 interchange project, but instead we are using a tax on essential groceries to pay for this 400 or 500 million project?

Biggest lie of transportation planning: expanding roadway capacity (adding more roads and widening current ones) eases traffic congestion. This may be counterintuitive but California DOT studies have shown that for every 10% increase in road capacity, traffic increases 10% within 4 years.

Obviously there is a problem with transportation in Atlanta, and a solution is needed

... but T-SPLOST just seems corrupt as hell!!

The reason to vote for it shouldn't be to 'create construction jobs' (for all those companies who donated to the vote yes campaigns) - it should be to fix the actual traffic issues.

Many of the very elderly are shut-ins and do not drive or use marta, yet this tax takes a bite out of the income they use on food and medications. As a society we can do better than this.
