I would say Elivis was the Billy Ray Cyrus of the 1950s. The McCarthy hearings were spreading fear and hate thughougt the movie and music fields, Writers, actors, musicians were all being being placed on pillars of persecution.

50 years, that ought to count for something. I never saw a segregated theater or water fountain, and I lived in a fairly diverse community.

The Sweet Inspirations toured with Elvis in the 1970s. By that time demanding the same accommodations was hardly groundbreaking.

Having the misfortune of living up north, I experienced more racism and prejudice in a decade than I have experienced living in the South for 20 years. I had family in Whitehaven where Elvis lived - when he moved there the area was white but in a few years it became segretated.

I'm not sure where you are digging up these tidbits of questionable information, such as "Elvis continued after he was set for life" so perhaps you should do some reading on Elvis' financial management issues.
