I would say Elivis was the Billy Ray Cyrus of the 1950s. The McCarthy hearings were spreading fear and hate thughougt the movie and music fields,  Writers, actors, musicians were all being being placed on pillars of persecution.

      <![CDATA[The Rollings Stones have some great songs that are essential, undeniable classics that will undoubtedly play on for centuries...but they have FAR more shitty (or mediocre) songs than good. Had Napster not come along, I would not own any of their music, as committing to an entire Stones album can be absolutely brutal.

Having the misfortune of living up north, I experienced more racism and prejudice in a decade than I have experienced living in the South for 20 years. I had family in Whitehaven where Elvis lived - when he moved there the area was white but in a few years it became segretated.
