"Pillow Talk," a one-off collaboration between Carnivores and Deerhunter's Bradford Cox, has been floating around since Aquarium Drunkard premiered the song back in March, but the tides have washed it back our way as of late.

It's a non-album, digital-only single that was recorded in December 2011/January 2012, and it's a bit of a schizophrenic number.…

Every spring, music fans around the world await the release of summer festival lineups, and every summer of late, the list of festivals seems to grow exponentially. For those of us who aren't independently wealthy, choices must be made.…

>> One half of She & Him, the adorkable and amazing (but also almost always just a little flat) Zooey Deschanel made a predictably adorkable music video for "I Could've Been Your Girl" that is basically an extended intro to New Girl.

>> He sounds great, and so does Dawes, but is there anything as sad as John Fogerty facelift?…

Peruse the lineup for this year's Atlanta Jazz Festival and you'll notice a number of artists listed who - much to the chagrin of a few hardcore traditionalists - don't neatly fit into the standard "jazz" categories. Of course the festival, which takes place May 25-27 (with free shows at Piedmont Park and ticketed performances at several other venues), has been in the business of showcasing genre-jumping musicians over its 36-year history.…

Age Against the Machine is Goodie Mob's first proper studio album with all four members of the group in the mix since World Party arrived back in '99.…

Friends, family members, and musical cohorts of the late Earl "Bubba" Maddox are gathering tonight (Wed., May 22) at the Soul Bar in Augusta to pay homage to the late drummer and redneck underground fixture who passed away on March 17.

Back in March, CL's resident country music scribe James Kelly penned an eloquent remembrance of Maddox.…

From its hard-hitting '70s glam drumming to the modern indie rock sound of distorted vocals and wall of wailing guitars, Mamma Bear's debut video for "Red's Dead" offers a nice mix of influences from the mind of head bear Kyle Gordon (of Young Orchids). The band, which started out as Gordon's recording project, makes its live debut tonight (Sat., May 18) at the Star Bar.…

If nothing else, Georgia native Blind Willie McTell cemented his legacy when he wrote "Statesboro Blues," which has become an integral component of the American music lexicon. Made famous by Macon's own Allman Brothers, the tune has been a staple of blues bands for decades.…

Word made its way across the Internet yesterday: Atlanta DJ and trap and bass music fixture HPNTK (Chris Tanner) took a stray bullet outside of Connect Lounge on May 15. Details are still coming together, but at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, an argument broke out near the entrance to the Auburn Ave. club, which erupted in gunfire.…
