A King Celebration

When: Thu., Jan. 12, 8 p.m. 2012
Price: $55-$125
Superstar cellist Yo-Yo Ma is the central attraction in this 20th anniversary of "A King Celebration," Atlanta's annual community-unifying concert honoring the life and legacy of Civil Rights leader the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. The multifaceted Ma, who performed at President Barack Obama’s inauguration, is esteemed for exploring a cross-cultural migration of ideas through music. Of civic note: Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed will narrate Joseph Schwantner's "New Morning for the World," based on King's words.
