What are your thrifting/bargain-hunting tips?
Keep your eyes open, G! Keep in mind what you're looking for and go get it. Also, don't feel strange/shy about bargaining, particularly if you're buying in bulk. Managers really, REALLY give less than two sh*#s and you'll save some cash!
What's your favorite vintage/thrift piece?
Oh my ... an a-line, knee-length black rockabilly dream with a cinch waist, scoop neck, cap shoulders, deep pockets, white polka dots, and lush red rose print ... va va voom. I had an ex who said time stopped and he heard Otis Redding the first time they saw me in it.
Best place to score vintage in Atlanta?
Clothes swaps, thrift stores, other folks' closets.
What is your style philosophy?
Wear what feels good, son. If you feel good, you'll look good and that's that. And have fun with it!
How has Atlanta influenced your personal style?
It really hasn't. Hmmm, actually, I get to wear summer clothes longer, so my wardrobe is less sweaters and more dresses and cardigans.
What do you like about wearing vintage clothes?
Ha! I enjoy thinking about who else has worn them, though most of my clothes are less than 50 years old. I have some friends in Brooklyn who are really influenced by Victorian-era fashion with pieces almost 100 years old, which is WILD to me.
What single article of clothing could you not live without?
I love people's personal style and expressing myself through fashion, but I lived out of a suitcase the last two years and, truth be told, I live pretty well without them. :)
