Sparks fly over the death penalty in Alice and Kafka Are Dead/Long Live the Rosenbergs, 7 Stages’ exploration of execution in art and history showing Sept. 2-4. A collaboration with Dah Teata of Belgrade, the show draws on such real events as the controversial 1953 trial of accused spies Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, as well as fictional capital punishment hearings from Kafka’s The Trial and Alice in Wonderland.
