And Iran

Peep ShowIran not so far away

With jerks like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and King Xerxes soiling their reputation in the United States, we thought it'd be nice to present the softer side of Persians (aka Iranians) to CL readers by photographing last week's Persian New Year celebration at Divan Restaurant and Hookah Lounge. That this writer is Persian is, well, just a nutty coincidence.

As part of a series of talks titled "Bearing Witness: Experiences of Captivity, Protest and Survival," Auschwitz survivor Murray Lynn spoke of his horrific experiences to an audience at the Carter Library. And Friday's performance by Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church was so good, it got us wondering – are people born singers, or is it a conscious choice?
