And now, your host ...

Bruce Combs may well be the busiest quiz master in town. He is the brains and the voice behind trivia nights at four different bars: the Highlander, McClellan's, and two Mellow Mushrooms (Vinings and Decatur). He's also a full-time manager at Criminal Records.

Bruce's questions and categories are not your garden variety. Subjects range from high school chemistry to after-school cartoons to random pop culture. "I want to see what kind of general useless information I can dig out of your skull."

His nickname is QuizBastard.

Bruce's unorthodox trivia nights draw a different crowd of regulars. "They're not as serious as other trivia junkies around town. It's more of a social, interactive thing. ... I've had 'Jeopardy' contestants play my game and come in third or fourth."

One of Bruce's favorite trivia questions: "Name the six films the 'Coreys' [Feldman and Haim] have done together."

Answer: The Lost Boys, License to Drive, Dream a Little Dream, Dream a Little Dream 2, Blown Away and National Lampoon's Last Resort.

Favorite thing about hosting trivia: free beer.

Least favorite thing about hosting trivia: having to be "on" for the public, even after working an eight-hour shift at Criminal.

Bruce hails from Baltimore, Md., where he played linebacker in high school. A skiing accident cut his football career short.

Not only does Bruce come up with witty, interesting questions, he has a broadcaster's voice. He used to DJ at Atlanta's own Doll House and New Mexico's KAFR 90.1.
