Ever tooted a tuba or puffed on a piccolo? The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's hands-on open house for all ages, SYMPHONY CELEBRATION, offers the opportunity to step into a musician's shoes Oct. 8. Get to know your award-winning ASO through interactive music-themed demonstrations, workshops and exhibits, or test-drive the orchestra's instruments on the aptly named Brass Boulevard, Woodwind Way, Percussion Place and String Street. Curious about the behind-the-scenes perspective? The festival offers a peek backstage via guided tours and the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and Atlanta Symphony Chamber Chorus both offer open rehearsals. Free. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Woodruff Arts Center, 1280 Peachtree St. 404-733-5000. www.atlantasymphony.org/celebration.
