Besnard Lakes, Spirits and the Melchizedek Children, HIGH BIAS

When: Mon., April 29, 8:30 p.m. 2013
Price: $10
The Besnard Lakes have composed momentous, stunning, and despondent songs over the past decade. But after bassist Olga Goreas' mother recently died, the group's tone took a slight turn toward the optimistic. That sense of hope, unlike previous efforts, emanates throughout the group's fourth record, Until in Excess, Imperceptible UFO. Expect the Montreal shoegaze outfit’s vociferous buildups and dissonant noise bursts to remain fully intact. Meanwhile, Spirits and the Melchizedek Children offer the perfect complement as openers.
