Ponce de Leon Avenue

What do the Krispy Kreme doughnuts, prostitutes giving blowjobs and mayoral candidate Shirley Franklin have in common? They all can be found on a certain stretch of Ponce de Leon Avenue in Midtown. While much of Atlanta is being gentrified into submission, Ponce retains its, um, indigenous charm. If you're in the mood for cheap and not-so-wholesome fun, stake out a corner between City Hall East and Peachtree Street, and you're sure to see colorful street characters, the odd projectile vomiting incident, hookers and -- if you're lucky and hanging out near The Eagle -- some mustached, hairy-assed 40ish leather dudes walking around in chaps. Who could ask for more?
