Road races give you blisters. Beer festivals get you bloated. And, considering the state of some seats on public transit, the lovable urban prank No Pants MARTA Day could probably give you a rash. There's no downside, however, to Atlanta's version of PILLOW FIGHT DAY, the annual free-for-all held around the world on the first Saturday in April. Last year's whack-a-thon near Little Five Points drew an estimated 500 friends and strangers — some dressed in pajamas — eager to relive the slumber parties of their youth and pummel each other into a feather-covered mess. International Pillow Fight Day
From Ghana to Ukraine, countries around the world saw their cities devolve into pillow-swinging madness on April 3 as International Pillow Fight Day gripped their citizens. Here in Atlanta, several dozen fighters reveled in feathery fun at Freedom Park, while almost as many photographers captured the flight of the pillows.
