The latest restaurant trend in our city is inarguably the gastropub, which has rendered the usual negative associations with “bar food” archaic. THE GLENWOOD ATLANTA is extra special because it's much better than the average restaurant but retains the intimate feel of a great bar hangout. Chef Ryan Stewart's menu tours the South with dishes such as Eastern North Carolina barbecue and rabbit Brunswick stew. Then he takes off. There's a Vietnamese crab cake sandwich, a rack of lamb over basil salad with feta, watermelon vinaigrette, and fennel-and-beet chutney. He also prepares special dinners such as five courses paired with beers and a farm-to-table menu.
Full disclosure: The Glenwood's chef, Stewart, is married to CL Food & Drink Editor Besha Rodell. Many writers contribute to Best of Atlanta, including our longtime Grazing columnist Cliff Bostock, who chose the Glenwood for this award and wrote the blurb. We trust that Cliff was in no way influenced by Stewart's connection to CL when he made this selection.
