The problem with many of the indie bike shops is you get the "you ain't hardcore" attitude unless you walk in covered in dried blood with a branch sticking out of your head. An exception to the rule is Atlanta Pro Bicycles on Highland Avenue, which has great customer service -- but, alas, a price range and fleet of serious bikes daunting to beginners. GALYAN'S TRADING CO.
, however, has a bike for every level of rider. Those just starting out can ride home after dropping just $250, one of the best prices for a bike in the city. Likewise, hardcore bikers -- whether long-distance street riders or shredding off-roaders -- can spend serious dough on the ultimate two wheels.
