Fashion designers have come to think of "precious" as a dirty word. They purposefully scuff up clothes and market black leather motorcycle jackets as purchasable edge. But what's so wrong with the overrefined? Cacao Atlanta Chocolate Co.'s Buckhead location brings Parisian flair to doll house-like levels: a white marble bar displays delicious concoctions and cafe tables are the perfect place to enjoy a bite of one of its exquisite handmade truffles in flavors like fig and balsamic, maple pecan, and lemon curd. Salespeople wear white lab coats as a nod to the complicated bean-to-bar process used to produce the chocolates in Cacao's kitchen in Inman Park — they're one of only a handful of American makers to make chocolate from scratch. Its newest location, on North Highland Avenue in Virginia-Highland, is pretty, too. 2817 Peachtree Road. 404-467-4670. And other metro Atlanta locations. cacaoatlanta.com.
