Despite the recent soap opera over his decision to leave Atlanta and then to stay, GUENTER SEEGER continues to cook with a level of invention and excellence that has made him one of the most respected chefs in the world. First for the Dining Room at the Ritz-Carlton and now at his own eponymous restaurant, Seeger has established a new standard in Atlanta for elegant cuisine. His August announcement that he would close Seegers and leave town prompted much hand-wringing (in these pages and elsewhere). But an outpouring of love, as well as financial backing from an admirer (who just happens to be the chairman of Fidelity Bank), convinced him to stick around. Phew. If youve got the bucks, you can still have your fill of such luxuries as farm fresh eggs poached in vegetable consommé and served in the shell with chantilly cream and caviar. We are thrilled he still calls Atlanta home.
