Every year, Atlanta stages an intriguing variety of worthy cinematic activities, including the annual Out on Film Festival, monthly Film Love screenings, and the Plaza Theatre’s puckish programs such as Art Opening and a Movie. In its 32nd year, the ATLANTA FILM FESTIVAL revealed a graceful ability to showcase films on all sides of the artistic spectrum. While the festival proper recognized small Southern dramas such as Hal Holbrook’s That Evening Sun and unclassifiable quirky indies such as Bill Plympton’s animated fable Idiots and Angels, special screenings like the Fox Theatre anniversary presentations of Gone With the Wind and Do the Right Thing brought cinematic milestones close to home. atlantafilmfestival.com.
