Best Holding Steady Artist 

Sure that young whippersnapper Kara gets all the press, but after 40-some years in the business, her father LARRY WALKER is still kicking it old school, mixing it up this year with the kids in shows at the Contemporary's 2003 Biennial. Walker's huge mixed-media collaged panels at the Contemporary combined advertisements, text, pornography and photographs, and captured the contemporary city's chaotic, assaultive landscape of salesmanship of every kind. While younger artists have often embraced that urban fracas, Walker provided the perspective of age, seeing the potential for toxic overload.
